Callers posing as sheriff's deputies demand payment over the phone

A sheriff's office in Idaho has warned of more calls from people pretending to be deputies, claiming missed jury duty, unpaid fines or warrants and asking for money straight away. Real officers never demand payment over the phone or threaten arrest over unpaid fines. Hang up and call the agency back on a number you look up yourself, and never pay with gift cards, crypto or payment apps. With QuietGuard's protection on, a cold call like this from an unknown number stays silent and waits in the quiet log until you are ready to check it.

Cloned-voice call about a jailed friend ends with cash collected at her door

A woman in Orlando got a call in what sounded like her friend's voice, saying he was in jail and needed bail. A fake lawyer then phoned, and couriers collected thousands of dollars from her home, according to WKMG ClickOrlando. A relative in trouble asks for urgent money, and someone offers to come and collect the cash. Hang up and call the person yourself on a number you already have. QuietGuard lets only your trusted contacts ring, which keeps unknown callers out, but it cannot judge a call from a trusted number, so checking with family still matters.
